Year after year, Indian woman are just getting stronger. Making their mark across the globe and in the sub-continent too, Indian woman are making the country proud. Dhivya Suryadevara
This 39-year old Indian woman made it into headlines with her name being announced as the Chief Financial Officer of General Motors. Prior to this role, she was associated with General Motor's corporate finance unit and was acting as its Vice President.
Her being announced as the CFO of such reputed automobile firm is a sensation in the entire industry, as the stream itself is predominantly a male-dominated one. Dhivya certainly serves an inspiration to many Indian women who want to step into automobile field. Dhivya proved that glass ceiling no longer exists if a woman can prove her worth and talent with confidence.
Gita Gopinath
Kerala based Gita Gopinath is the second Indian and the first woman to be appointed in the role of the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Gita's inspiring journey will certainly prove it wrong that international finance field is a male dominate done and woman can reach the peaks with consistent result based efforts and confidence.
Gita Gopinath is from a middle class family and her father was a farmer-enterprenuer. Her PhD at Princeton University paved her a way to prove her mettle in the field of finance. After a brief stint at the Harvard and university of Chicago Graduate School as an Assistant Professor, Gita proved her skill in the Finance industry and reached the top,just to inspire us more.
Tessy Thomas
This "Agniputri" and the "Missile Woman of India" is here to inspire all those women who wants to make their mark in the field of defense and research. Her ambitious spirit in making a difference and bringing out the best just made her stand out from the rest and shut many mouths who think what a woman can do in a male dominated area of research and development.
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) specially mentions the efforts of Tessy in successfully launching the Agni-V missile project which always stands as a milestone in her career.
Mary Kom
This 35-year old boxing champion was recognized as the most successful boxer in the world. What else do we need to say about this woman who achieved this recognition not losing to any obstacles and challenges in her personal and professional life in a field that is known for male domination. Mary Kom is living proof that Indian women can achieve a lot more with the help of family support and encouragement.
Though she is nor more with us, the list can never be complete without a mention of this lady who rose to stars. She broke the glass barriers and proved that Indian women can touch the sky with determination and passion. Kalpana is definitely a strong woman that inspired lakhs of girls across the sub-continent and even today her name rings in every girl's heart who aspires to be an astronaut.
